The company’s history reaches back to 1940s, with the key date being the year 1948, when the Chemical Factory was founded and first TNT production started. Other years important to us are 1958, when the Chemical Plant in Bydgoszcz was created. In the late 80-s falled the period of deep transformations in Poland. It was the time that the central planned economy has started to change into the free market economy. The partition of Chemical Works „Organika-Zachem” on 1-st January 1992 into two firms was the result of these changes. One of them, knows as Chemical Works „Nitro-Chem” has been finally transformed in 1994 into the joint stock company.
Today, Zakłady Chemiczne "Nitro-Chem" S.A. is part of Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A. (Polish Armaments Group), a leader in Polish industry and one of the largest defense concerns in Europe.
Main objects of the Company:
- production of high explosives and their compositions and chemical products for the armaments and chemical industries,
- manufacturing medium and high caliber ammunition for military customers and providing elaboration services for other companies in the arms sector,
- production and sale of products for the civilian market: civilian blasting agents for companies in the rock mining, geophysics and road works sectors as well as the production of plastic films for the packaging industry.
Over the past decades, Zakłady Chemiczne "Nitro-Chem" S.A. has successively modernized production technologies, increased production capacity and gained new markets for its products. Today our customers are countries located on six continents. One of the most important achievements in recent years is our entry into the US market, through which we have expanded our existing military cooperation. We are expanding the activities of "Nitro-Chem" S.A. in Africa and the Middle East, and we are also continuing to work with European customers, steadily increasing our order portfolio. Since 2015, over 80 percent of the plant's production is directed to export.
More than 75 years of experience in the production of explosives and the provision of ammunition elaboration services gives us an extensive knowledge of their production technologies and the needs of the defense and mining markets.
We have proven, efficient and constantly upgraded production facilities that are based on the best technological solutions. The quality of our products is confirmed by international standards such as MIL, STANAG, TL, GOST. Triniflex Plastic Films Division "Nitro-Chem" S.A., was established in 2011, as a result of diversification of the company's production activities. With the support of EU grants from the Innovative Economy Operational Program, the modernest production line from the German company Raifenhauser, dedicated to the production of non-oriented CAST films, was purchased. Since the beginning of our activity, we have been building and developing the Triniflex brand by investing in the modernest solutions, taking care of the highest quality of the offered products and meeting the expectations of our customers. We offer a wide range of polypropylene, polyester and polylactide films for the production of packaging, not only in the food industry, but in all market segments, where plastic films are used.

- 2023
- Signing a contract with the United States for the supply of TNT between 2023 and 2026.
- State Security Leader Award in the PRODUCT category in cooperation with the Department of New Technologies and Chemistry of the Military University of Technology for the TBX-NW12 thermobaric composition.
- The PGZ-AMUNICJA consortium and the Armaments Agency sign a multi-year framework contract for the supply of ammunition for the Polish Army.
- 2022
- Commissioning of a modern hazardous sludge drying facility to minimize the amount of hazardous waste generated and sent for further disposal.
- 2021
- The company Zakłady Chemiczne NITRO-CHEM took first place in the 13th edition of the "Employer Friendly to Employees" Certificate awarded by the NSZZ "Solidarność".
- Introduction of a new product SuperSoil, intended for fertilizer purposes, to the company's offer.
- 2020
- The "BUSINESS GAZELLE" title awarded by the publisher of Puls Biznesu for dynamically developing companies.
- The "EAGLE" title awarded by the weekly WPROST for the fastest growing company in the Kuyavia and Pomerania province.
- The title ICON OF KUYAVIA AND POMERANIA BUSINESS in the plebiscite "Golden Hundred of Kuyavia and Pomerania".
- State Security Leader Award in the PRODUCT category in cooperation with the Department of New Technologies and Chemistry of the Military University of Technology for the service of elaboration of artillery ammunition with the first Polish small-sensitive explosive composition K-43.
- 2019
- 1st place in the 23rd edition of the Golden Hundred of Kuyavia and Pomerania in the category "Pillars of the Region - large most innovative companies of Kuyavia and Pomerania".
- Obtaining a certificate confirming the completion of the implementation of the production technology of Mk-82 aerial bombs, which are on the armament of Polish F-16 aircraft.
- "Defender" at the defense fair MSPO in Kielce. Awarded in the category of innovative technical solutions in the field of defense and national security for the first Polish small-sensitive explosive.
- 2018
- "NITRO-CHEM" was again among the winners of the "Golden 100 of Kuyavia and Pomerania" ranking organized by "Gazeta Pomorska".
- Opening of a modern sewage pretreatment plant.
- 2017
- Signing a contract for the production of Mark 82 bombs for F-16 fighters.
- 2015
- The title "Employer of the Year" awarded by Employers of Kuyavia and Pomerania.
- Symbol of Pro-Environmental Activities 2015, Symbol of Polish Export 2015 - titles awarded by the editors of the "Monitor Rynkowy" in "Dziennik Gazeta Prawna" and "Monitor Biznesu" in "Rzeczpospolita".
- 2014
- Signing a contract with the Ministry of the Treasury for the project "Modernization of TNT, hexogen and octogen production technology".
- Entry into the Polish Armaments Group.

- Certificate of Innovation and gold medal and title of the best product of TAROPAK 2012 fair for TRINIFLEX® cPET polyester film produced by NITRO-CHEM S.A. Innovation Certificate.

- Launch of plastic film production line.
